Mark Williams, of Team FOOTPRINTZ , this past summer worked with several players, but none more talented than Shiclasia Brown. Arguably, one of NYC's best PGs (regardless of grade level), she used the momentum from the very successful Nazareth High School season to get better during the summer months. During this time, her skill set and game vastly improved, largely due to her unyielding work ethic, coupled with her attendance at Team FOOTPRINTZ work out sessions, and her participation in Taliek Brown's Weekly Basketball Clinic.

"I have worked with many female players, as a college coach and current high school coach, but for her age "SB" is by far the most talented player. No disrespect to my past players, but she is that good. It was a joy working with her this summer", says Mark - Lead Skills Instructor.

Be sure, to remember Shiclasia's name...

Girls basketball recruiting notebook: Brown steps out of Cuevas' shadow
By MARC RAIMONDI - August 8, 2011

Shiclasia Brown and Bianca Cuevas were inseparable during the high-school season to the point where they call each other “Twin.” They’re both the same age – rising sophomores – and similar in size and style of play.

The biggest difference between the two Nazareth guards is reputation. Cuevas is known as one of the top players in her class, a potential future McDonald’s All-American. Brown is viewed as her sidekick.

Until this summer.“She really stepped out of Bianca’s shadow,” said Apache Paschall, her Naz coach and the head of her Exodus travel organization.Playing without Cuevas, Brown came into her own and actually emerged as the leader of coach Lauren Best’s Exodus Epiphanny Prince 15s team. Her game developed in all aspects and at the end of the live period, the 5-foot-5 picked up offers from Kentucky, Syracuse, Morehead State and LaSalle. Multiple other schools also called about her, Best said. “I think now she realizes that Bianca is good, but so am I,” Best said. “She has her own personality now. She doesn’t have to be Bianca’s Robin. She’s Batman now. That’s the role she had with this team.”

Paschall and Best hammered home that Brown had to become a leader this summer and she bought in. “I needed to know how to lead a team, tell them where to go and tell them where they need to be,” the LeFrak City native said. Best said that even when she did play on Paschall’s top team, Exodus NYC, with Cuevas, Brown shined through on her own, not just because of Cuevas’ presence. That’s a good sign for Nazareth, which will need Brown to excel the next three years. “Since she wasn’t on my team this summer, now I had to really prove that I’m just as good as her,” Brown said.
