NEWS & NOTES - Jabarie Hinds

Congratulations are in order for Team FOOTPRINTZ' trainee Jabarie Hinds for earning NY State's Mr. Basketball Award. The "Mr. New York Basketball" award, the top honor in the sport, is presented annually to a deserving high school senior by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, which includes scholastic and collegiate coaches from across the state. Past winners include, Lance Stephenson,Tobias Harris, Brandon Triche, Jonny Flynn, Jonathan Mitchell, Sebastian Telfair, Stephon Marbury and Tyler Relph & Peter Mulligan of Team FOOTPRINTZ. Jabarie and his Mount Vernon team will head to Glen Falls, NY where they will battle for "state bragging rights" in the state sponsored Federation tournament.

Hinds, the 6'0" point guard, recently committed to Bob Huggins' West Virginia University program where he will join fellow MV star Kevin Jones on the Morgantown campus. The McDonald's All American nominee will compete in the inaugural All American Championship, which will take place April 3, 2011 in Houston. According to the Gazelle Group's president Rick Giles (tournament's organizer), " Our goal for the All American Championship is to provide avid fans of college basketball the chance to see the next generation of All Americans...These forty players have already made their marks on high school basketball and will, without a doubt, make their marks on the college game. I am proud that we have been able to assemble such a talented group of young men and look forward to a great day of basketball."

Once again, congratulations to Jabarie Hinds.
