Team FOOTPRINTZ’
COLEMAN COLLINS
selected 6th in NBA D-League Draft

Mad Ants coach Jaren Jackson went into the NBA D-League draft looking for “bigs,” the basketball phrase for big men.He wanted some inside post presence and rebounding. While it remains to be seen how Coleman Collins and Toree Morris pan out, they definitely have the size to fit Jackson's plans.Collins, a 6-foot-9 power forward, spent the fall camp with the Phoenix Suns, and the Mad Ants chose him with their first-round pick on Friday, the sixth pick overall in the draft. They took former Pittsburgh center Toree Morris (a 6-foot-10, 280-pounder) with the 11th pick of the second round.“You need bigs,” Jackson said. “This a guard-oriented league at times and there are so many guards in the league. Every team is in need of bigs because there are very few.”Collins was among the six players targeted as the biggest, best prospect among the players available in the D-League pool.He played in Germany last season and will be making his D-League debut this season.“He should be able to play 30-some minutes a game at power forward and solidify our interior,” Jackson said. “He's not just a rebounder. He can score and he has good potential to reach the NBA.”

“This is a great opportunity for Coleman and his family as well as an honor to be selected 6th in this year’s draft. Hopefully, this is a stepping stone to him reaching his ultimate goal of playing in the NBA. I, on behalf of the FOOTPRINTZ family, wish him much success.” says Mark Williams – Executive Director
