FIREBALL ’08 SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
Fireball, known as the pre-season to many New York summer basketball tournaments, continuously brings out the best talent in the city to compete over a two-month period. The league, which originated in Brooklyn in 1999, has recently started to gain city wide notoriety mainly because of its highly competitive games and big name guest appearances, such as, current New York Knickerbocker's Nate Robinson and Renaldo Balkman as well as current and former NBA players such as Omar Cook, Jerome “JYD” Williams, Smush Parker, Francisco Garcia, Charlie Villanueva, Quincy Douby and Charles Jones. In addition, Fireball attracts players who have and / or are currently playing professionally throughout the world. This year, teams (programs) in an effort to remain “on top” have made strides in order to attract better and younger talent. Players such as Kemba Walker (UCONN), Erving Walker (Florida), Jordan Theodore (Seton Hall), and Darryl “Truck” Bryant (West Virginia) are scheduled to appear.

This year’s crop of team (programs) consists of Bedford Y, GCD, NYAC, Team FOOTPRINTZ, XMEN, RACK ATTACK (primetime), Gun Hill, and Sean Bell All Stars.
Bedford Y - Coached by TIPPY and anchored by NBA players Quincy Douby and Francisco Garcia is no stranger to the FIREBALL program. However, this is year they look to improve on their last year record (0-7) and again become a playoff team.
GCD - A relatively new team but the boast players who are legendary on the streetball circuit. Led by John Strickland and former NBA players Charles Jones, Shawnelle Scott and John Wallace as well as current NBA players Nate Robinson and Smush Parker. GCD looks to make a dent on the FIREBALL scene.
New York Athletic Club (NYAC) – Coached by Milton Lee (Director of Basketball Operations) and last year’s runner up has plans to win the ‘chip this year. To do so, Milton Lee returns a strong cast of players led Bryan Matthew, Nate Brown, Donald Copeland, and James Mastaglio. In addition, expect NYAC’s roster to be “dotted” with NBA talent.
Team FOOTPRINTZ – A new addition to the FIREBALL. Coming off its final four appearance in FUNSPORT (FIREBALL’s sister program). Team FOOTPRINTZ looks to leave its footprint on the 2008 tournament.
XMEN – A storied NYC streetball program and final four team of last year’s FIREBALL season. Dytanya Mixson’s team, led by Raphael Edwards, Tommy Eddie, and Michael Campbell, is focused on taking his program to the next level. Also, expect NBA players to join his program throughout the year.
RACK ATTACK / PRIMETIME – A New Jersey powerhouse and coached by James Ryans. Boasts a roster filled with New Jersey stars and several current NBA players.
Gun Hill – A regular on the FIREBALL circuit. As a member of the 2007 season’s final four Gun Hill, led by “Basketball” Bobby Mahoney, looks to make it the final game.
Sean Bell All Stars (SBAS) – Led by Lil Rah and arguably the best collection of talent in the city. SBAS, powered by Garnett Thompson and Darryl Hill, looks to capture the title after winning FUNSPORT's Brooklyn Pro title.
