Team FOOTPRINTZ OCCUPIES Vermont

Mark Williams, lead skills instructor, ran two basketball clinics in the Green Mountain State the first weekend of December. Mark, a former All American candidate as a student-athlete at the College of St. Joseph ('90-92), returned to his "2nd home" as the Rutland based teams began practice in preparation for the 2011-2012 school year.

The first clinic, held at the Keefe Gymnasium of Rutland HS featured the Varsity Boys team coached by Mike Wood. Coach Wood's 2011-2012 team is extremely talented and should compete for the state championship.

The session began at 8:30am and from the onset was full of positive energy and an unyielding desire & willingness to learn. Players were challenged and at times "looked uncomfortable", but overcame their awkwardness in order to add to their "TOOL BOX". According to Coach Wood, "the players had fun and learned tons. It was great from them to hear a different voice, but one that played the game at a high level and has VT roots".

After the Rutland clinic ended Mark met with Vermont High School coaching legends Matt Kingsbury & Leon Wood - where they discussed many topics, however, none more important than the development of the Vermont student - athlete. "To be able to sit and chat with those two legendary high school coaches was great. I can't wait to go back to VT and hang with them again. Their knowledge and insight is a great asset."says Mark Williams.

The second clinic took place at Barstow Elementary School (Chittenden, VT) and was organized with Steve Senecal - the school's 5/6th grade coach. Coach Senecal, who does a great job, assembled 20 players who despite their age were EXCITED about the game of basketball. "The Barstow players worked their tails off. Many of the drills were age appropriate, but some (drills) were advanced which they LEARNED faster than expected. I wish everyone had the same zest for the game as the Barstow group and that includes the player's parents." says Mark Williams.

Team FOOTPRINTZ wishes the new members of #teamgetbetter much success and a great season.
