FIREBALL PLAYOFFS UP NEXT

Team FOOTPRINTZ pushed their record to 4-1 after defeating, by forfeit, Sean Bell/DDN in a highly anticipated game that never materialized.

Fireball, known as NYC’s summer basketball springboard, boasts many players with national & international professional experience, including players with NBA pedigree.

Prior to their forfeit win, Team FOOTPRINTZ defeated QUEENSBRIDGE (2008 NIKE pro/am champions), in a lopsided victory that solidified their advancement into the 2009 playoffs. In an effort to add depth to its roster, Team FOOTPRINTZ featured several new, yet key additions.

Reggie Freeman, member of University of Texas’ All-Decade Team (1990-1999). Reggie, known on the NYC summer circuit as Hi-5, recently returned to the NYC scene after a stint in Serbia -where he was a key figure in his team’s playoff race. In addition to Reggie Freeman, Team FOOTPRINTZ added Marcus Douthit, who attended Providence College where he finished his career ranked second all-time in blocks(295) as a result was selected with the #56th pick in the 2004 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. Most recently, and after a short stay in the NBA, Marcus played with Antalya Buyuksehir Belediye in the Turkish League where he averaged over 12 points per contest. Finally, Team FOOTPRINTZ added Andrew “SPONGEBOB” Washington to its roster. Andrew, a staple in the DC Pro/ Am circuit, ventured to NYC to further enhance his street ball credibility. Although, a legend in the nation’s capital area, he is also an established professional player. While in Romania, “Spongebob” finished 2nd in scoring (20.2ppg) after his dominating offensive display in Uruguay where he made the All- Import team.

“I am VERY excited about our team. I believe we have the pieces needed in order to make serious run and the 2009 Fireball championship” says Coach Mark Williams.

Team FOOTPRINTZ looks to begin their quest Friday - June 12th @ 7pm versus New York Athletic Club (NYAC).
