Team FOOTPRINTZ in
FIREBALL PRO GAME
@ Baruch College
The 2008 Fireball Pro Game season attracted many professional level players as well as many “big” name guest appearances, such as, current New York Knickerbocker's Nate Robinson, New Jersey Nets’ Marcus & Sean Williams as well as current and former NBA players such as Smush Parker, John Wallace, Allan Houston, Kenny Satterfield, and Charles Jones. In addition, Fireball attracts players who have and / or are currently playing professionally throughout the world. Players such as Jarrid Frye, Mike Campbell, Nate Brown, Bryan Matthew, Ronald Yates, BJ McFarland, JC Mathis, Kareem Collins, John Strickland, Peter Mulligan, Darren Philip, Garnett Thompson, Darryl Hill, Donald Copeland, Melvin Creddle, Anton Douby, Donnie McGrath, Steve Burtt Jr., Jerry McCullough, Shagari Alleyne, Quinton “T2” Hosely, Mike Haines, Mark McCarroll and Chudney Gray. Also, high schoolers who will make an impact on their college of choice, players such as Kemba Walker (UCONN),Bryant Chowder (Undecided), Terrence Jennings (Louisville), and Jordan Theodore (Seton Hall) made their presence felt throughout the season.
Team FOOTPRINTZ entered the 2008 season as a known unknown entity despite it’s strong performance in FIREBALL’s sister program (Brooklyn Pro Game). Led by Charles Lott, Andre Duncan, Onye, Dan Golembowski, Rob Hines, and Jarrid Frye with solid contributions from Jackson Collins, Kason Mims, Nesto Giascombe, Marlon Smith, Jason Curry, Ian McGinnis, Marcus Stout, Damien Daniels aka Cross Country, Steve Chase, Jason Wingate, Julian Bah, Antawn Dobie, Sergio Guzman, and Kenny Satterfield and coached by Mark Williams - Team FOOTPRINTZ, entered the league’s final weekend with a 3-2 record. After losing to NYAC and Gunhill while defeating Sean Bell, Rack Attack, and Bedford Y. In order to make the playoffs Team FOOTPRINTZ needed to beat either GCD or X-MEN.
GCD, led by Smush Parker (LA CLIPPERS), Shagari Alleyne (Kentucky), Quinton “T2” Hosely (Fresno State), Josh Hare (Virginia), and Kemba Walker (McDonald’s All American) defeated Team FOOTPRINTZ 95-84 in a game that was not decided to the final moments of the game. Following the defeat, Team FOOTPRINTZ faced regional power X-MEN. X-MEN, who uncharacteristically entered the game with a 1-5 record. Adopting the role of “spoiler” X-MEN, suited up Mike Campbell, Steve Burtt, Jr., Jemont Gordan, and Rahiem Lowery in an effort to defeat Team FOOTPRINTZ. To combat X-MEN’s impressive roster, Team FOOTPRINTZ added Kenny Satterfield and Antawn Dobie in order to add scoring from the guard positions. To the dismay of Mark Williams, Team FOOTPRINTZ fell short of the victory which ultimately sealed the team’s playoff push.

“I am proud of what we accomplished and I look forward to next year’s tournament. Our fan base is expanding and every victory provides our students with a glimpse of what they can accomplish by using basketball as a vehicle of change. In addition, I am also proud of our "role models" and their performances especially Jarrid Frye for being named the 6th man of year as well as 2nd team all league” says, Coach Mark Williams
