Team FOOTPRINTZ
advances to
FINAL FOUR

Team FOOTPRINTZ, a community based organization, which seeks to promote, foster and encourage interest in the sport of basketball. In addition, develop motivated and competitive student-athletes with positive attitudes - competed in BROOKLYN PRO league sponsored by FUNSPORT inc.( http://www.funsportinc.com/ ) considered, by some, NYC’s premier WINTER basketball league.

Coached by Jason Curry of BIG APPLE BASKETBALL (
www.bigapplebasketball.com ) and led by Bryan Matthew and Charles Lott with solid contributions from Bobby Mahoney, Damien Daniels aka Cross Country, Dan Goliembowski, Julian Bah, Sergio Guzman, Dana Warner, Lance Hazel and team captain Mark Williams - Team FOOTPRINTZ, finished the regular season with a 3-2 record (one loss was due to forfeit), earned the number 3 seed in the east division. A division that featured top - flight NYC programs, such as X-MEN coached by Dytanya Mixson, DDN/Sean Bell Allstars led by Lil Rah, All Game who featured some of Brooklyn’s finest players led by Sheldon Jefferson, and Usual Suspects which sported a roster sprinkled with former NBA talent – John Wallace and Shawnelle Scott as well as players who competed at top level of Division I colleges, i.e. USC, Manhattan College, St. Bonaventure, Shaw University, Marist, University of Virginia, and Lehigh University.

In the playoffs, Team FOOTPRINTZ faced a Bedford Y team (http://www.funsportinc.com/images/BPG022308-Footprintz-BedfordY.pdf) that is led by TIPPY, whose program has produced several top notch players including Quincy Douby of the Sacramento Kings and Jamel White of Louisiana Tech University as well as competed in FUNSPORT inc.’s FIREBALL tournament.

In order to assist in rebounding and solid production from the bench, Team FOOTPRINTZ using it’s franchise tag, added John Strickland to it’s roster. After a very convincing win, which silenced many of Team FOOTPRINTZ’s pundits, Team FOOTPRINTZ faced off against X-MEN in the final four. X-MEN, who entered the playoffs as one of the two undefeated teams, advanced by escaping past DIAMONDS in the opening round of the playoffs. Team FOOTPRINTZ fell behind early and was never able to regain it’s footing and suffered a 25 point loss to X-MEN and Dytanya Mixson. This loss marked the second time that X-MEN had convincingly defeated Team FOOTPRINTZ. (http://www.funsportinc.com/images/BPG022408-Xmen-Footprintz.pdf) “ They are a very good team, with a good mix of shooters and smart players. I can only tip my hat to them and use this loss as a building block for the future of Team FOOTPRINTZ”, says team captain Mark Williams. “Rick, of FUNSPORT inc, has a good tournament and I think our play deserves to viewed as an accomplishment. We beat a lot of good teams, but RIGHT NOW, it seems, X-MEN has our number”.
